Health, Hope and the Human Spirit:
The First Major Capital Campaign in St. Luke's History
Think back to 1954... When our original Hospital was constructed, the computer didn't exist and the x-ray was the most sophisticated non-invasive diagnostic tool available. Now imagine all the amazing advances in medical technology and services over the past 50 years, and you can understand why it is paramount that we begin to build for the future of St. Luke's today.
Each year St. Luke's serves thousands of patients from the Houston community as well as those who come here from across the nation and around the globe. Thanks to exceptional performance and sound management, the Hospital is now one of the most successful in the nation.
Until now, this institution has covered the costs of all capital improvements. Now it is St. Luke's turn to reach out: we are launching the first-ever, major public capital campaign in the Hospital's history.
Focused on the theme Health, Hope and the Human Spirit, this multi-year campaign will raise $200 million toward a total project cost of $500 million.
The campaign will provide funding for critical renovations and construction of a new Patient Care Center and new Center for Spirituality and Health. Additional funds will support the Hospital's programs and services.
Taken together, these projects will transform St. Luke's and ready our facilities for the new century.
