Gifts of Stock/Securities: Gifts of appreciated securities may offer substantial tax advantages. These include forgiveness of the tax on capital gain, and an income tax charitable deduction for the fair market value of the securities.
Matching Gifts: Many companies have programs that match all or part of their employee's charitable giving. Some employers extend this benefit to retired employees. Please contact your Human Resources Department to determine your company's policy on matching gifts. These gifts may be counted toward the campaign goal and valued using the current federal rate.
Bequests and Planned Gifts: Gift planning can be an effective way to achieve charitable goals while providing you with important tax benefits now and in the future. Charitable gift planning includes wills, charitable trusts and annuities, and life insurance policies.
Tribute Gifts: St. Luke’s tribute program provides the opportunity to recognize someone special to you. Tribute gifts may be made to honor a loved one’s recovery or a physician, nurse or other caregiver. A gift may also be designated for any occasion – a birthday, anniversary, holiday – or used to express appreciation or love. Many people find great comfort in remembering a friend or loved one who is deceased with a special gift to St. Luke’s.
The family or individual you designate will be notified of your thoughtfulness through a personalized acknowledgement, although the amount of the gift is not included. When you send a tribute gift, please include the following information:
- Your name and address
- The person to whom you are paying tribute
- The name and address of the person who should receive an acknowledgment card
- The St. Luke’s program to which your gift should be directed
- Please specify whether your gift is in honor or memory of the person to whom you are paying tribute
