High Touch, High Tech Care

St. Luke's is recognized as a one-of-a-kind healthcare institution providing a truly authentic brand of holistic patient care.  We tend not only to our patients' physical needs, but also to their emotional well-being.  We call it "caring for the whole person -- body, mind and spirit."  And in a world driven by technological and scientific advances, our compassionate care has a profound impact on the patients we serve.

Founded by the Episcopal Diocese of Texas, today the Hospital anchors the St. Luke's Episcopal Health System.  Home to the Texas Heart Institute, St. Luke's is recognized for the strength of our cardiology and vascular care, orthopaedics, oncology, urology, neurology and neurosurgery, liver and digestive health, palliative programs, rehabilitation, and women's services.

St. Luke’s is a general acute teaching hospital with more than 1,800 of the most respected physicians in the Southwest, and we take full advantage of the superb resources of the surrounding Texas Medical Center. While it is the primary adult teaching affiliate for Baylor College of Medicine, St. Luke’s is the only Medical Center hospital that serves as a teaching hospital for both Baylor and the University of Texas Medical School at Houston.

Affiliated with four leading schools of nursing, we also enjoy close ties with Texas Children's Hospital, providing seamless care for mothers and babies requiring neonatal intensive care.

For 50 years, St. Luke’s has served patients from Texas and around the world, and has earned its reputation as one of the nation’s finest and most respected hospitals. For 14 consecutive years, in its annual survey of "America's Best Hospitals," U.S .News & World Report has ranked the Texas Heart Institute at St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital among the nation's top ten heart centers. St. Luke’s was the first hospital in the Southwest to receive the American Nursing Association’s coveted Magnet Award for nursing excellence. It is no coincidence that St. Luke’s was recently recognized for the third time by FORTUNE as among “100 Best Companies to Work For” and by the Houston Business Journal as the top healthcare employer in Houston for three consecutive years. The best people ensure the best care, but the facilities in which they work must keep pace.
